TENEMENT is a top-down horror game about the arrangement you didn't build but can't stop feeding. you're the landlord of a decaying building. every unit has someone in it, and every one of them has something wrong. a smell, a sound, a request that's just slightly off. you can fix it for free, because they can't really afford to say no to that kindness. or you can charge full price, and let them come apart some other way.

either answer is the wrong one. the building doesn't want your money. it wants what desperate people can't refuse to give up. and upstairs, someone you love is only breathing because you keep paying that price on their behalf.

walk the halls in duotone. knock, and the world cuts to a close, first-person read on exactly what you're doing to the person on the other side of that door. six weeks. eight tenants. one ledger that remembers everything you chose.

CONTROLS

WASD / Arrow Keys — move

VERSION

where this stands at the jam deadline: this is a real vertical slice, not a demo loop.

all seven floors, the full six-week structure, and five of the eight tenants (Kessler, Dobrescu, Marchetti, Herrera, Okafor) have their complete four-stage arcs written and playable start to finish, including Priya's one-time pivotal choice and all four endings.

what's thinner right now: only two tenants (Kessler, Dobrescu) have real portrait art so far, the ending thresholds are a first pass rather than tuned/playtested numbers, and there's no restart flow yet. reaching week 6 is currently the end of the session.

but i do have a full vision for this game, and bbuilding continues past the jam.

next up: portrait art for the rest of the roster, music/sound fx, more fleshed out dialogue and narrative choices, a proper furniture pass to dress the rooms (currently structural but undecorated), tuned ending thresholds, and a restart-without-relaunching flow. if you hit the end and want to see a different ending, relaunching the page gets you there for now.
